Living where? Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. I moved back to Brazil in December 2025, after 14 years living abroad (in Norway and Germany).
Doing what? I’m currently an assistant professor in the Department of Genetics, Ecology, and Evolution of the Institute of Biological Sciences (ICB) at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG).
Research news: I’m applying for grants and setting up the lab; the first students are starting! I’ve also been to the EuroEvoDevo and SBBE meetings.
Teaching news: I taught undergrad courses on evolution, genetics, and developmental biology during the first semester at UFMG. I’m also teaching Evo-Devo and bioimage analysis for graduate students.
Outreach news: Not much going on but I’m preparing the first release of the lab website, which will have some outreach.
Home news: Not much bass playing and no fish, shrimp or other aquatic friends. Or furry friend. But they are expected.
